The explosion of commercial marijuana growing has caused:

  • Illegal diversion of streams, spills of diesel fuel, hazardous waste, fires, poisoning of wildlife, erosion and massive dumping of plastic debris and other trash.

  • Dumping and leaks of pesticides, fertilizers, trash, waste oil and diesel fuel by marijuana growers.

  • Speeding vehicles driven by growers, their workers and customers have impacted rural roads. Some roads are pounded into dust by diesel delivery and water trucks.

These are just a few of the issues surrounding marijuana grows that are causing an environmental disaster throughout Mendocino County.
